Group Critical Illness

There are a number of important features to the Group Critical Illness cover offered by Utmost Corporate Solutions:

Premium Payment

Group Critical Illness cover can be provided by a company for its employees and the premiums are paid by the employer.

Benefit Design

The benefit can be based on a multiple of salary but can also be based on a fixed amount, subject to maximum levels in the Policy Terms and Conditions. For an additional premium, a member’s spouse (under age 60) can also be covered under the policy for up to €20,000. Cover is automatically provided for eligible children (aged from 30 days to 18 years old) up to a maximum benefit.

There are two levels of cover that employers can choose from – Core and Core Plus. Core cover provides cover for 7 major illnesses and Core Plus adds significantly to this list. Full details are available in the Policy Terms and Conditions.

Pre-Existing Exclusions

There are exclusions surrounding pre-existing illnesses or operations, prior to taking out the policy. It is important that all members are fully aware of these exclusions as set out in the policy Terms and Conditions.

Survival Periods

Members must survive for a specified period of time to be able to claim for certain critical illnesses. Full details are available in the Policy Terms and Conditions.

Benefit Payment

Benefit payment is usually made by Utmost Corporate Solutions to the employer as the policyholder who then pays the benefit to a member in the form of a lump sum.

Underwriting Requirements

Group Critical Illness plans typically include a free cover limit. This limit is the maximum level of benefit that we will provide to an employee without the requirement for the provision of further medical evidence. Subject to meeting our actively at work requirements, any benefit above this limit will be subject to full underwriting before acceptance terms are issued.
